What are Tibetan Prayer Flags?

The Tibetan word for prayer flag is "Lung ta" meaning "Wind Horse". When wind blows (expressing the quality and nature of mind) the sacred prayer flag flaps in the breeze. 
Prayers contained on the flags carry a blessing to all beings. Seeing them also reminds people to be mindful of the Dharma as they go about their business - a reminder of prayer for the welfare of all beings and mindfulness of the qualities of virtue, goodness, compassion, healing and happiness.

The traditional 5 colours represent the 5 Buddha family Blue-space, White-cloud, Red-fire, Green-water, Yellow-earth.
